Fundraising ideas: how to support Family Fund this October
Looking for fundraising ideas this October? Whether you want to take on a challenge, host a get-together or simply cheer others on, there are lots of ways to support Family Fund and help families raising disabled or seriously ill children.
Here are the charity fundraising events and activities happening in October 2025 – and how you can join in.
Cardiff Half Marathon fundraising – Sunday 5 October
The Cardiff Half Marathon is one of the UK’s most popular races, with a flat route past the city’s most iconic landmarks – from Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium to Cardiff Bay and Roath Park Lake.
Our charity places for 2025 are now full, but you can still get involved:
Cheer on Team Family Fund on the day and show your support.
Donate to help our amazing runners reach the finish line.
Plan ahead: why not sign up to another running challenge, or secure your own place in a future race and run for Family Fund?
Every step taken helps provide essential support for families raising disabled or seriously ill children.
Taste of Yorkshire Online Auction – closes Thursday 9 October
Family Fund’s Taste of Yorkshire Auction is now live – packed with foodie treats, luxury getaways, memorable experiences and more, generously donated to raise money for families.
Whether you’re after a special gift or a little indulgence for yourself, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Every bid you place will directly support our work, helping families access essentials and experiences that make life a little easier.
But be quick – bidding closes on Thursday 9 October.
If running isn’t your thing, how about bouncing your way through October? The Inflatable 5K is bigger and bouncier than ever, with giant obstacles to jump, slide and climb. Gather your friends, family or colleagues and take on the challenge together. Get in touch if you want to enter or book your place here:
Cheltenham – 4 October 2025
Norwich – 11 October 2025
Brighton – 18 October 2025
Windsor – 25 October 2025
This is a brilliant way to combine fitness, fun and fundraising – no experience needed.
Autumn is the perfect season to put the kettle on, grab a slice of something warm and comforting, and gather people together. With Brew and a Break, you can host your own coffee morning (or tea break!) to raise money for Family Fund.
This month, why not lean into the season with bakes like spiced apple cake, pumpkin muffins or sticky toffee pudding? And with Bake Off back on TV, you could even turn it into a friendly competition – who can whip up the best showstopper?
It’s a simple, cosy way to bring people together, enjoy good company, and raise funds that will make a real difference for families.
October is packed with fundraising fun – but don’t forget, there are even more ways to get involved next month. From early festive fundraising ideas to our Firewalking event on 21 November, we’ll be sharing the details in our next monthly round-up.
In the meantime, if you’re planning your own fundraising this winter, now’s the perfect time to get organised. Whether it’s a workplace challenge or a seasonal bake sale, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Join in and fundraise this October
From cheering on runners in Cardiff to bouncing through inflatables or brewing a cuppa with friends, there are so many fundraising ideas for October.
If fundraising isn’t something you have time for, we’d love you to make a donation and every pound helps us support families raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person.
